LANDSCAPING
This horse's body becomes
A painting in my studio.
My hands see
Boulders,
Rivers,
Smoldering fires on forest floors.
My hands like paintbrushes
Manipulate the landscape
On the hot canvas
Until the chaos of color
Finds balance
And I leave well-enough alone.
A work of art is never finished.
